HBO Plans Anita Bryant Biopic, YouTube Commenters Still Hate Her

Darren Star of Sex and the City fame has signed on as director for an Anita Bryant biopic at HBO films, and we smell an Emmy for Julianne Moore! (No actress has signed on yet...) The Christian singer, activist, and orange juice spokeswoman gained some renewed attention after figuring briefly, via archival footage, in 2008's Milk. Bryant made it her life's work to campaign against gay rights, and the movie, says Star, will be a nuanced portrayal that will help us "answer the questions around what drove her to do the things she did."
Below, a track from an early LP from Anita, singing 'Til There Was You.' The 'you' in this case, is probably Jesus. We're mostly amused by an exchange between YouTube commenters on this video, which epitomizes the dialogue whenever her name comes up among older gays:
