Shel Silverstein's 'The Giving Tree' Gets a Sassy Gay Friend

If you take it as a given that the tree and that horrible boy in the famous children's book The Giving Tree were in an abusive relationship, then naturally all the tree needed was a 'sassy' gay friend (Second City's adjective, not ours) to set her straight. And to call her a stupid bitch. [Second City]
