Gay Winemakers Call All Aboard for Big Gay Wine Train
February 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM
We're reporting this partly because it's local (to us) news, but out gay winemakers from Napa and Sonoma Counties are gathering for a first of its kind gay wine dinner next month aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train. The catered dinner on March 12, being called The Big Gay Train, was organized by a newish group called Out in the Vineyard, and will feature tastings presented by gay winemakers and winery owners like Greg Bjornstad of Bjornstad Cellars, Jeffrey Durham and Joey Wolosz of Poem Cellars, and Mark Lyon of Sebastiani Vineyards.
Out in the Vineyard's Gary Saperstein founded the business with partner Mark Vogler (pictured) last June to provide "experiential" wine country tours and events for LGBT folks. The Big Gay Train is already half-sold to fancy gays who love wine, and tickets can be had for $125. See the full flier below, and get more info and reserve here.
(Also, Saperstein says, "if there’s a way to get a permit to put somebody in drag sitting in a giant Swarovski crystal-studded shoe atop the train roof," a la Priscilla Queen of the Desert, he’s all over it.)
