San Francisco Drag Legend Vicki Marlane Dies at 76

One of Le Fag's favorite performers, Vicki Marlane of The Hot Boxxx Girls at Aunt Charlie's, passed away this morning at 7 a.m. She was 76.  Queerty and SFist have already eulogized her, and all we can say is that this lady (a.k.a. The Lady with the Liquid Spine) lived an amazing life, and she was reason alone to bring your mom to her wholly unironic drag show in the Tenderloin in S.F.  The New York Times even profiled her, albeit briefly, back in 2009, because she was like the oldest living transgendered performer in the country, and despite making the odd straight couple uncomfortable when she slithered up to them while lip-synching to Celine Dion, btich was pretty goddamn fierce. She will be dearly missed. We look forward to the many tributes in the coming weeks from a new generation of queens who doesn't know how easy they have it.

Below, the trailer from the documentary about her life made in 2008-9, Forever's Gonna Start Tonight: The Vicki Marlane Story.
