That Guy Who Spread That Kony Video Arrested For Public Masturbation
March 16, 2012 at 1:55 PM
Most of you probably watched some of, or at least heard about, that Kony 2012 video that spread like MRSA in a bathhouse last week. Well, experts on African politics were quick to point out that the video was basically patronizing, inaccurate, and potentially dangerous in that Kony hasn't been unknown to leaders, he's just very hard to catch, and a bunch of American twentysomethings putting stickers on things is not going to do anything constructive to solve the problem. The founder of San Diego-based Invisible Children, the non-profit that made the video, is this apparently homosexual man named Jason Russell, who believes himself to be a heterosexual Christian who, at age 33, has two children with his wife and hopes to have nine more. Oh, but last night he was detained on Pacific Beach in San Diego for, among other things, public masturbation.
Police say he was acting really weird, was obviously on something (possibly not just drunk), and was running through traffic in various states of undress, and "in his underwear." He apparently vandalized a car, too. Guess all that internet fame is making him go a little crazy!! Or maybe it's just all those years in the closet.
Below, hear Russell talk, and try to tell us he is straight.

UPDATE: Further evidence... behold this musical number that Russell and his Kony-obsessed cohorts came up with in an early viral video attempt in 2006 related to the same cause of getting kids involved with hunting Joseph Kony. UPDATE 2: Gawker has some footage of his nude meltdown, though its really unclear what he was doing.
