Fire Island Pines Pavilion Complex, Now a Pile of Rubble, Goes on Market

Remember how the Pines Pavilion and the Sip-and-Twirl and that whole wood structure burned down last fall in a blaze that was ultimately deemed non-suspicious though we still think it sounds suspicious? Well, now, as the Awl reports, even though foundations for a new building started getting laid last month with a scheduled reopening in 2013, the Gay Ground Zero quietly went on the market recently for a kinda unrealistic $22 million. So, those guys who bought it for $17 million back in 2010? They are getting out. But the fire wasn't suspicious. And regardless, this is going to be a sad, T-Dance-free summer in the Pines. [Awl]

UPDATE: Well, here are further details, stating the property has actually been on the market since December and likely will not be sold, because the owners won't have a chance of recouping their money until the Pavilion is rebuilt.

Fire Island Gets Its Own Cookbook

The Junior League of the Fire Island Pines or whatever is coming out with a cookbook next year, called The Fire Island Cookbook, according to Publishers' Marketplace. What does this mean, you ask? Is it all just smoothies and menus consisting of pills, chamomile enemas, and Tab? We have no idea. But we can tell you one thing, it better not involve semen.
