Yo S.F.: Get a Ticket for Mr. and Juanita MORE's Pride Party Now

SF Pride, and the subsequent shame spiral, are upon us, kids. It's time to make some plans, even though your drug-addled lives barely let you plan ahead to tomorrow. MR., the annual kickoff of the weekend, is happening for the last time on Friday, June 22. Get a $15 advance ticket here, and the party's at Monarch (6th and Mission) this year, so it will sell out since the venue's pretty small.

And online advance tickets are just about sold out for Juanita More's annual post-Pride shindig, which is actually two outdoor San Francisco venues this year, on Sunday June 24: the patio Phoenix Hotel, and Jones, with shuttles in between. Get a $25 ticket online before they're gone, or else buy one without the service charge at Sui Generis in the Castro or Retro Fit in the Mission. Update: Online tix are now gone. But there will be some at the door, and at the above locales.

Shout Out: Gawker Party for Marriage Equality

Our friends over at Gawker Media and OUT magazine are throwing a little shindig tomorrow evening at the NYC Gawker headquarters.  The cause?  One last push for marriage equality in New York, as Governor Cuomo keeps the state assembly in session until they vote on the same-sex marriage bill.  Gawker is matching all donations big or small, and a donation of $200 gets you a ticket to the party.  Open bar, entertainment, etc.  Get drunk, get fed, get laid for a good cause.

Sites We Love: Nark Mag

Want to see how the kids are partying these days on the upper West Coast?  Check out Nark Mag, from Seattle photographer Kevin Kauer, who also makes it down to San Francisco quite a bit.  He takes some fun party photos, like these from Booty Call in the Castro on Chinese New Year's Eve, and these from a newish party called High Fantasy at Aunt Charlie's in the Tenderloin, featuring a lot of signature SF half-drag. See a few selections below, and check out these others that he has for sale as prints

Grabby Awards/Int'l Mr. Leather Weekend Kicks Off In Chi-Town

We aren't there, and given our recent spate of hangovers and VD scares we're happy not to be. But last night was the kickoff of Grabbys weekend in Chicago, and Unzipped's Zach Sire has a bunch of from-the-hip photos from Chi Chi Larue's party last night at Hydrate (those are Austin Wilde's abs in the above photo, btw). The Sword also promises some coverage, which will likely be more leather-daddy-heavy, but so far they're probably still sleeping it off.

Yay! New Parties in SF & NY!

Glamamore, Downey & Vivvyanne. Photo by Juanita More.Thank fucking god. The holidays and the holiday hangover are behind us, and the brilliant trannies (and Downey) who brought you Tiara Sensation are taking their show to Fridays this week, glue-gun craft table and all.  The new party at The Stud in SF is called SOME THING, and it's going to be a dance party with two, count 'em two drag shows, at 11 and 12PM (which in drag time translates to something like 11:30 and 12:45). As Marke Bieschke writes in the Guardian:

We're in a post-drag moment. Classic, glamorous lipsync-to-camp-classics drag (especially as practiced by the amazing Hot Boxx Girls, www.thehotboxxxgirls.com) has seen its dips and resurgences, as has its anarchic, punk-tinged sometime-nemesis, trash drag, like that practiced at the now defunct Trannyshack. The Some Thing threesome represent a third way, one that uses the familiar concept of drag as a mere portal into all kinds of performance effects.

Le Fag Interviews: NY Party Personality Malik So Chic

Photo: Gerry ViscoThose who don't live in big cities may think it's insane that there are people who make money partying, but for a few dozen New York nightlife personalities, just showing up is a living. They do their promotional duty, they create a certain ambiance with their carefully constructed looks, and it's nice work if you can get it.

We recently chatted up Malik So Chic, who The Cut called "André Leon Talley crossed with Pee-Wee Herman," and who's made a name for himself working the ever-fabulous rooms of Vandam, 747, BonBon and elsewhere in the last year, bringing in the gays who buy the drinks, and always wearing some large glasses and a little sparkle.

Le Fag: How does one go about becoming a nightlife personality?

Malik:  I was just lucky 'cause I was working in fashion already and going to all the fashion and society events because of it.  I always have loved nightlife.

Tonight in SF & NY: Booty Call's 2nd Bday and Levi Johnston at The Box

As the Le Fag Bar & Party Guide reminds us, tonight is the night Daniel Nardicio unveils his latest piece of rough trade, Levi Johnston, at an event in his honor at The Box in NYC.

It's also the 2nd Anniversary of Booty Call, the photo-centric Castro party that has been bringing lots of hot boys out to dance to lots of great music on Wednesday nights. Weekly parties are kind of a rarity in San Francisco, and we congratulate impresarios Juanita MORE! and Joshua J on keeping this shit fresh and fashionista-friendly for two not-so-straight years.
