We're pretty sure most of you have no idea what the Cybersocket Awards are and you barely care... basically, it's an awards show for gay porny websites, and the world of gay porn gathers in earnest each February in L.A. to celebrate themselves like they do several others times a year, and get shitfaced together. Grabby Awards/Int'l Mr. Leather Weekend Kicks Off In Chi-Town

We aren't there, and given our recent spate of hangovers and VD scares we're happy not to be. But last night was the kickoff of Grabbys weekend in Chicago, and Unzipped's Zach Sire has a bunch of from-the-hip photos from Chi Chi Larue's party last night at Hydrate (those are Austin Wilde's abs in the above photo, btw). The Sword also promises some coverage, which will likely be more leather-daddy-heavy, but so far they're probably still sleeping it off.

Historical Homosexuals: Wakefield Poole

Today on BUTT -- whose website is still kicking even though the print mag may be dead, temporarily or no -- there's a terrific mini-review of 1972 gay porn cult classic Bijou, directed by Wakefield Poole. In it, a "straight" construction worker takes a trippy, balletic, naked romp through a psychedelic sex club called Bijou, which takes its name probably from the sex club and theater of the same name in Chicago, which later spawned Bijou Video. It sounds awesomely awesome, complete with big pink statues with penises coming backwards (head first) out of their mouths. We are now determined to find a copy.

Breathe Easy, Porn Lovers, the Gay Porn Oscars Are Back On

There was a scare amongst the porn community a couple months back as the annual winter celebration known as the GayVN Awards (a.k.a. the Gay Porn Oscars) were indefinitely delayed and possibly canceled for the first time in, like, half a decade. Never an industry known for its stability or adherence to set time schedules, but nevertheless an industry that enjoys celebrating itself, the gay pornographers have apparently insisted that the GayVN shitshow go on, and they'll return the Castro Theatre in San Francisco a half-year late, on September 24th. The Adult Video Network and NakedSword, who co-host the awards, announce this week that the ceremony will be conveniently coinciding with Folsom Street Fair weekend, when half the porn stars are in town anyway signing autographs on people's asses and showing off theirs. Gay Porn Awards Delayed, Possibly Canceled

How the award statuettes get used after the ceremony.As another startling piece of evidence that the adult industry isn't as recession-proof as once believed, the annual GayVN Awards ceremony has been indefinitely postponed, pending financial backing from a media outlet who might want to broadcast it. As The Sword reports, the company that typically hosts and funds the awards, AVN (whose annual hetero porn awards in Vegas are still a big event, coinciding with the Adult Entertainment Expo in January) can't swing a big show like they have the last couple years, which means that they'll have to consider putting on a much smaller event unless somebody like Here! Networks or Logo steps up and wants to foot the bill. Porn-on-demand site NakedSword was a co-producer of last year's awards, which happened at the historic Castro Theater in San Francisco and featured celebrity hosts Janice Dickinson, Margaret Cho, and Alec Mapa. But apparently ticket sales alone aren't enough to cover the expenses of what's become the biggest event for the gay porn world, and the opportunity for stars like Brent Corrigan and Michael Lucas to strut the red carpet and engage in another public feud hangs in the balance!
