Gay Porn Awards Delayed, Possibly Canceled

How the award statuettes get used after the ceremony.As another startling piece of evidence that the adult industry isn't as recession-proof as once believed, the annual GayVN Awards ceremony has been indefinitely postponed, pending financial backing from a media outlet who might want to broadcast it. As The Sword reports, the company that typically hosts and funds the awards, AVN (whose annual hetero porn awards in Vegas are still a big event, coinciding with the Adult Entertainment Expo in January) can't swing a big show like they have the last couple years, which means that they'll have to consider putting on a much smaller event unless somebody like Here! Networks or Logo steps up and wants to foot the bill. Porn-on-demand site NakedSword was a co-producer of last year's awards, which happened at the historic Castro Theater in San Francisco and featured celebrity hosts Janice Dickinson, Margaret Cho, and Alec Mapa. But apparently ticket sales alone aren't enough to cover the expenses of what's become the biggest event for the gay porn world, and the opportunity for stars like Brent Corrigan and Michael Lucas to strut the red carpet and engage in another public feud hangs in the balance!

Hot Tranny Alert: AVN Award Winner Kimber James

She is none other than famed transsexual porn star Kimber James, who just took home the 2010 AVN Award for Transsexual Performer of the year. Sure, everybody talks shit on their personal blogs, and a veritable writing style has emerged in which people say incendiary things on blogs -- things they don't even totally mean -- just because they think it will get attention and maybe, hopefully, start a commenter war.

Unzipped Portrays The New Gay American Family

Click to enlarge.The cover of the December issue of Unzipped magazine features cute porn couple (and Falcon's only Exclusive couple) Aiden and Jordan Jaric, along with Randy Blue's Chris Rockway and Shannel from Rupaul's Drag Race in a portrait of the "new American family." This family naturally features a tranny mom, a naked dad who must have donated sperm at age 5, and two twentysomething "sons" who are diddling each other. Nothing says the holidays like 3 porn stars, a turkey, and a Las Vegas drag queen!

We think this is the first time a drag queen has graced the cover of this (or any?) gay porn mag, and it makes both us, and Shannel, mighty proud. We at Le Fag fully embrace the mixing of drag, porn, art, fashion and music scenes -- all of which combine to make this thing we reluctantly call "gay culture." As Shannel puts it, "this is a magazine for gay men, so why not be inclusive of the different aspects of our community?" We might not go quite so far as to put pictures of Shannel in her nude body suit complete with huge tits side by side with the porn, but Unzipped did, in fact, do a shoot with Shannel showing off her ass (which, as we learned on the Drag Race reunion show, is extremely hairy by nature) and the very Vegas-y showgirl drag that is her oeuvre. Documentary About Gay-For-Pay Porn Stars

The whole gay-for-pay thing is a popular subject, and one that a lot of gay men like to carp about -- particularly with the angle that no man who has sex with men could possibly be straight. But, actually, that's not really the case. Many veterans of the gay porn industry know quite well that 25-30% of the performers are straight-identified or bisexual, and that with the help of a little Viagra and the promise of an easy $1000 (or more in many cases), they're willing and able to get it in on with whomever -- including love of our lives Reese Rideout, who's married to a woman.

Anyway, thanks to The Sword and Queer Me Now, we have this 23-minute video to share. It's a doc produced by Here! networks about the whole phenom which aired in '08 (we think), and features some famous faces like Ken Ryker (who cops to being bisexual here) and Billy Brandt (same, with teacup chihuahua in his lap). Vintage Porn B-Roll: Al Parker's 'Inches'

Our newest YouTube friend, kinkywagon, put together this lovely 10-minute montage of b-roll (the non-sex scenes) from 1979's Inches, starring the original Castro clone, Al Parker.
