James St. James Is Really Big in Phoenix

Who knew? Blood Fest in Phoenix, which is kind of a trippy, twinky raver scene with some straight hipsters and blood thrown in, is a direct descendent of Blood Feast, a gory-themed birthday party for Michael Alig from the club kid days, once presided over by party monsters Alig and James St. James. (Note: We think it's ironic that in the clip below one of the twinky ravers refers to Alig as 'Michael St. Alig,' especially since he's still in prison for murdering someone.) Now James St. James works for World of Wonder, the producers of Rupaul's Drag Race and the amazing blog worldofwonder.net, and he's a correspondent for their "Daily Freak Show" -- sort of a mock news broadcast, sort of a vlog, which also sometimes features Le Fag fave Michael Lucid in drag as Damiana Garcia. And James went down to Phoenix to capture this festival of blood and dancing, and to be worshipped by the next generation of party monsters. WATCH, after the jump. [WOW]
